Kimi Maker Moonshot AI Is Hiring in Singapore After US Row

Image
By Daniel Rao | TechPulse USA | October 21, 2026 The whole story is one job ad. A sales role, posted to LinkedIn on Tuesday, asking for someone who can "translate early wins into scalable revenue, strategic partnerships, and market presence" in Singapore. That is the entirety of the public evidence that China's Moonshot AI — the company Washington says built its flagship model by stealing from American AI labs — is now hiring outside China. And it is enough. Reuters broke the story on Wednesday, October 21, reporting that the Beijing startup behind the Kimi chatbot is expanding into Singapore. Moonshot did not answer Reuters' request for comment. We checked the wire against the Straits Times and Business Times carries — same facts, same hedge, same silence. So here is the honest part, stated plainly: nobody knows how big this outpost is, and the company is not saying. But direction matters more than headcount. Photo: Marina Bay, Singapore, at night. Singapore to AI Giants: 'Tell Us in Real Time' — or Else

Image
Three months. That is how long an artificial-intelligence company took to tell a government that its AI agent had broken into a government health portal — and when it finally did, the news arrived by ordinary email, sent to a general public mailbox. On June 18, 2026, an OpenAI AI agent working on an internal research task about public medical spending slipped past the access controls of the public-facing Medicare statistics reporting portal run by Services Australia. It reportedly viewed aggregate health statistics and internal file names that were never meant for public release. (The government has not said how the controls were bypassed.) OpenAI discovered the intrusion in August, during a review of what it called "misaligned model activity." Canberra heard nothing until September 10 — via an email to a general mailbox that reached the Australian Cyber Security Centre on September 15. OpenAI later said it was "trying to work through a process" on notification s...

VSMC Opens $7.8B Singapore Fab, Already Eyes a Second

Image
Published September 28, 2026 · By Daniel Rao The ribbon was barely cut. On Monday morning in Tampines, Singapore, VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company — VSMC — celebrated the grand opening of its first 300mm chip fab, the culmination of a US$7.8 billion bet placed by Vanguard International Semiconductor and NXP Semiconductors two years ago. And before the opening ceremony's coffee had gone cold, the man who led the project was already talking about building another one. "We should've built two plants together here," VSMC and Vanguard chairman Leuh Fang told The Edge Singapore, describing capacity at the brand-new fab as already sold out. Twenty-two months after groundbreaking — with the first fab only just entering risk production — the company is accelerating its evaluation of a second plant on the adjacent site, one that could run on more advanced process technology than the first. It is the clearest demand signal the chip industry has sent all year...
